JM Education Group (JM) is celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2022!

30 years may not be a lengthy milestone for any enterprise. However in the field of education counselling and placement, JM is considered an industry pioneer in Malaysia and the region. Founded in 1992 by Mrs Jean Monteiro, JM filled the information vacuum for education counselling and overseas study. With the dearth of information on overseas and local study options and the absence of well-informed career guidance teachers in schools and colleges, it was an opportune time to establish an education counselling centre where students and parents could seek advice.

Led by a team of passionate counsellors, JM distinguishes itself through the belief that counselling is a vocation first and foremost. Our counsellors study a student’s academic profile and have further discussions on their aspirations. JM counsellors also ensure that students and parents are aware of issues such as financial support, interests and aptitude, career outcome and performance in school.

Through thoughtful and systematic counselling, we assist students and parents in looking at options best suited to the student, to avoid unnecessary and costly mistakes.

Since JM’s inception, we have successfully counselled and placed more than 20,000 students at overseas and local institutions of their choice in Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Ireland, Singapore and Malaysia. Many graduates since returning to Malaysia, continuously contribute to the country’s nation building efforts. The early graduates of the 90’s are coming back to JM to seek counselling advice for their children. The trust in us speaks volumes about JM’s track record!

Against the backdrop of rapid technological advancement in communication and education deliverance throughout the last 3 decades, the fundamental core of education and training remains the same. Students and parents continue to embrace the ideas of in person experience and immersion on campus and overseas culture environment. The physical teaching interaction and camaraderie developed amongst the student cohort would leave lasting positive impressions long after graduation.

Similar to our founder who was an educator herself before establishing JM, I was for a short period a teacher at one of the leading local colleges in Selangor. My colleague and I are zealous in seeing your aspirations being achieved. Our global networking with leading education institutions that offer a wide choice of disciplines will enable students to make the best possible decision to achieve their career goals.
